Most species of algae can be controlled with very low concentrations of copper sulfate. Copper Sulfate is the most widely used and, in most cases, most economical algae control chemical available.  It has been applied directly to both source waters (i.e. lakes, reservoirs) and settling basins in drinking water applications.  It can be fed seasonally or in some cases year round. 

Aqua-Ox™ combines the algaecidal efficiency of liquid copper sulfate with the added benefit of a pre-dissolved permanganate.  Aqua-Ox™ can be added at the intake to the reservoir or injected between the raw water source and the treatment plant for thorough dispersal in the system.  This uniform and continuous application effectively controls algae blooms in the treatment system while significantly reducing iron, manganese, and color.  Benefits also include a reduction in trihalomethane (THM) precursors as well as haloacetic acids (HAA).  Related taste and odor problems are also alleviated as metabolites from algal cell processes and cell lysis are eliminated.  

Description

Dry Copper Sulfate is an odorless blue crystal that readily dissolves in water.  It is also supplied as a 25% solution product, Liquid Copper Sulfate, 25%.

Aqua-Ox™ is a clear, blue liquid.  It is supplied in 55 US gallon drums, 275 gal. totes, and in bulk via tank truck.
