One segment of our business at General Chemical is the operation of a refinery and chemical regeneration services unit.  Our services are utiliized by refineries that use sulfuric acid as an alkylation process catalyst in the production of high-quality,high-octane and low-vapor-pressure gasoline. The alkylation process contaminates and dilutes the sulfuric acid catalyst, generating an 85 percent to 90 percent spent sulfuric acid stream, which is then removed from the refineries via pipeline or tank truck. General Chemical thermally decomposes the spent acid to regenerate fresh sulfuric acid, which is then recycled back to the refinery.
